User Login Issue - Rapid Access Token Timeout

Hello, everyone.

Since this morning, I have been encountering a persistent issue with AYON account logins on our server.

Myself, and some other artists, have faced an issue where the access tokens generated on login very quickly become invalid - sometimes in the stretch of about 15 minutes. This results in the ‘Login to server’ popup occurring.

This has been causing some issues with our pipeline, as artists struggle to save, or, in the case of Substance Painter, produce potentially-corrupted PAINTER_LOCK files when using the workfiles tool.

Please advise about why this might be occurring, and how me might go about rectifying it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • What’s your ayon server version?
  • I assume this forced logout is only happening on desktop apps, web frontend is able to remain logged in over time?
  • How are you detecting it’s the “Access token” that timed out.

Hi there, thank you for your quick response.

  • Our server version is: 1.7.3+202502271156
  • The forced logout is occurring on both the web UI and host application instances of AYON
  • I’ve detected the access token invalidity in 2 ways:
  1. I was running a script that batch retrieves information from Maya files using some AYON API calls. It can take about 15 minutes to execute, and was interrupted part-way through, after a sequence of successful API calls. The Windows CMD flagged the error as due to an “invalid access token”

  2. As an error notification in the Substance Painter log window:

The artist didn’t include the actual line indicating the access token error in the screenshot, but on a video call I was able to see their screen and confirm. According to them, it has occurred 6 times today.

Apologies for the lack of visual reference here. I didn’t realize that it was an overarching issue until some other artists expressed similar difficulties.

Hi @iainh

That very much looks like you’re exceeding the single user session limits. Can you tell how many browsers and launchers are you logged into with that account?

Hi Milan,

Thank you so much for your response. As it turns out, we have 2 license pools on the go and the second one did not have any of the available licenses assigned. I have accounted for the exceeded license limit, and am awaiting feedback from the affected artists. :+1:

Much appreciated
