Tile rendering in USD Render

Hey! Any thoughts on rendering with USD Render tile mode? right now, its a manual process, can ayon play a role in handling in this tile rendering using its publish rop?

My initial thought would be: yes, makes sense to support it.

However, Maya Rendering integration has had tiles rendering support for quite a while, but admittedly I’ve rarely heard that being used. So that does leave the question whether it’d be worth it in the end. Maybe @libor.batek or @murphy know more about how often that feature actually got used in AYON.

You mention that currently it’s a manual process. Can you elaborate on the full process, like show how you would do it now? What is needed to support it from AYON?

A manual process is like the vanilla method, like how we submit to reiterate the tile index using TOPS and merge those tiles in the end.

Wondering if this all can be possible through ayon in the backend using USDrender!

I think it would be handy. We often render big resolution key visuals which take a long time to render. So it would be nice to split across multiple machines.
