Issue with .MOV Render Quality and Resolution Mismatch After Publish

Hello AYON Community,

After publishing from AYON Publisher — Nuke, we successfully published the following:

  • .exr sequence
  • .mov with UHD 4K
  • .mov with Full HD 2K
  • Workfile

However, we are experiencing the following issues:

  1. The .mov renders appear blurry and their visual quality does not match the .exr renders.
  2. The file sizes of the 4K and 2K .mov renders do not match expectations.

We would appreciate guidance on:

  • FFmpeg arguments, additional output filtering, and letterbox settings for Full HD 2K and UHD 4K renders.
  • Ensuring that the resize type in Reformat matches correctly. Currently, we have set:
    • UHD 4K: Width = 3840, Height = 2160
    • Full HD 2K: Width = 1920, Height = 1080
      But it seems the resizing may not be applied correctly (possibly defaulting height instead of width).

Could you provide a solution or recommended ayon core/nuke addon settings to ensure:

  • .mov renders match the .exr quality
  • Proper resolution scaling for both UHD 4K and Full HD 2K
  • Correct FFmpeg settings for consistent render output
