Ayon - Maya previs/layout to Animation workflow

Hi there,

Just trying to get a sense of what the best approach is to get our previs into an animation task:

Since there is no way to publish animation from one rig to another by default, and the existing animation publish generates geometry caches only,

What is the prescribed approach to having artist A working in a previs task with character rigs to transfer this data to Animation task for artist B?

Is it something simple like saving out a workfile from one task to another? This seems like its the wrong or non-pipeline way of going about it.

If I get it correctly, do you want to publish key frames/anim curves on a rig. so that Artist B can get it and continue working on it?

Goals:
rigs and animation: Ideally this would need to transfer over in tact, so that animators can continue the work that previs artists did.


tbh, I don’t use Maya a lot so I can’t come up with recommendations.
But, you can save a workfile to a different context and AYON context metadata will be updated along.

I was hoping for a method that uses “Build from Template”… because templates are awesome, and I’m trying to use them everywhere now
