I would love to have a feature like this.
One use case would be commercials. There is a main edit, and several cutdowns, that share the same shots. Making an edit would show how the latest renders work in different cutdowns.
Another use case is continuity check. For a sequence of shots with added cg fog, rendering lineup video would be a great help.
For those examples, I guess the video might be either created on demand (by action?), or automatically run every day, as in Ftrack create daily review session.
Rendering the edit (merged video) instead of making a playlist would be preferable. The rendered video can be shared with clients easily.
Maybe just leting the artist to make the initial edit in some OTIO capable host, using reviews that fit the rendered version intent well.
Like picking a lightweight mp4 with detailed burnin for internal dailies or nice Prores files with no burnin for client daily.
The process would then load published OTIO file, search for versions of the reviews used, switch for latest, and bake an edit review.
